Pro-Life
As a father I am unequivocally pro-life. I believe everyone has the constitutional right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Those rights are extended to the unborn.
Second Amendment
The Constitution is clear that "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." No one should have to pay a tax to exersice their God-given rights. I support Governor Lee on his stance, and will continue the work of expanding the current legislation to true "constitutional carry".
Teacher Pay
We are losing teachers in Wilson County, specifically because of the low pay scale. If a teacher can drive fifteen minutes down the road, to another county, and make five figures more in their salary they many will do so. If we say students are our future it is time we begin investing in the teachers who are with them daily.
Stop "Double" taxing citizens
In Wilson County we are taxed twice for emergency medical services. Once from the city, which you use, and then once from the county, which you do not use if you are within city limits. It is time to stop taxing the hard-working citizens of Wilson County twice for a service they do not use.
Infrastructure
Many of us have experienced the daily frustration with the outdated roads in our community. It is my goal to focus on our tax dollars helping improve the roads in our district. We must do this prior to approving more developments in our area. I will work with state, federal, and the city of Mt. Juliet to create a partnership and focus on this goal.
Support First Responders
We must ensure those who sacrifice daily to protect our communities are well taken care of in terms pay and benefits. This includes our brave Police Officers, Fire Fighters, and EMS.
Judicial Reform
While everyone should have to face consequences for crimes they commit it is time we allow people who are suffering from drug and alcohol addictions, that lead to crimes where no one is injured, the opportunity to go through counseling and a strict rehab program. By going this route, instead of sending them to jail, families will have the opportunity to stay together. This will also allow people the chance to overcome their addiction, and become productive members of society.
Giving Everyone a Voice
As County Commissioner for District 16 it will be my job to serve you and your family. I will always be a voice for you and your family.
Government Transparency
Too many times in politics there are back room deals made between developers and those we elect to represent our community. Many times these deals will lead to PACs donating to specific candidates, and then those candidates becoming a puppet for the developers and the organization that they represent. It is my goal to work for you and your family, and not developers dangling a check.
Educational Reform
College is not for everyone, and there is nothing wrong with that. I will push to incorporate trades into middle school and high school curriculum. People can make a great living in trades; and provide for their family.
Property Protection Legislation
I will introduce legislation making it illegal for utility companies (private companies) to take a person's property. If one of the companies comes into an agreement with the property owner, to use their property, then said company will be responsible for a monthly and/or annual payment to the property owner.
